“It came to me that every time I lose a dog, they take a piece of my heart with them. And every new dog who comes into my life gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are”
- Cheryl Zuccaro -

I never feel more given to
than when you take from me —
when you understand the joy I feel
giving to you.
And you know my giving isn’t done
to put you in my debt,
but because I want to live the love
I feel for you.
To receive with grace
may be the greatest giving.
There’s no way I can separate
the two.
When you give to me,
I give you my receiving.
When you take from me, I feel so
given to.
Song “Given To” (1978) by Ruth Bebermeyer from the album, “Given To.”

Nyssa (formerly Austin) is now living in Seattle with her wonderful family, including a darling Welsh Terrier, Tegan. Nyssa means “new beginnings” and that is just what this little girl deserves.
She and her older pup, Betsy came into rescue together. She is sweet, docile and will enjoy a family who can build her confidence and give her lots of love. She gets along well with other dogs and is moderate energy. She is a bit overweight at this point so will need an exercise partner - a great walking companion! She is a tiny thing and should ideally be not more then 25 lbs. She currently is approx. 10 lbs. over that.

Cooper now enjoys life with his retired family in the Pullman area - romping and running on their property that includes a pond! Lucky dog. Cooper also has a playmate, Niki, who is showing him how to live the good life

Cooper is an 11 month old Australian Cattle Dog. He was brought into the shelter 3 weeks ago with 3 littermates and 2 younger cattle dog puppies. The owner’s reason for relinquishing the dogs was “too many.”
Although a little shy when meeting new people, Cooper quickly warms up. He LOVES people and is totally connected. Nothing would make him happier than having a family of his own. He loves stuffies, chewies, belly rubs, and being with people. He is athletic, very smart, and would love to learn new things and have a job. He knows how to sit, walks nicely on a leash, and is potty trained. Cooper is inexperienced when meeting new dogs and needs to be introduced to relaxed dog-friendly dogs who don’t push him to get acquainted too quickly. He would do best in a quieter home with patient people who know and understand cattle dogs. Cooper is neutered and up to date on his shots.

Milo (formerly Tag) was adopted by a wonderful family in Western WA. Milo will be lucky enough to join his new “mom” at work each day and even get to ride the Metro Bus to work! Cowdogs LOVE to work
He is already enrolled in basic obedience and has plans for agility. We can’t wait! Milo struck gold and will never be unwanted again.

(below) a picture of Milo and his family on “adoption day” - he had no trouble making himself at home on their laps!

approx. 1 year. He was just pulled from a Spokane shelter and will be eval’d over the next week or so to give us a better idea of what type of home he would fit into best. So far, he is an active youngster who likes to play ball. He is unsure of new things (lack of socialization) but warms up quickly. Loves people he meets and is good with other dogs.
